We thought it was a done deal in 2016, and it wasn’t. Don’t be fooled the same way this year. And don’t depend on polling places to be open and accessible come November; we don’t know how bad the pandemic will be then. Apply for your absentee ballot NOW. Voting is a revolutionary act that does not require bloodshed. In this country, regime change is ONLY possible at the ballot box, and it is not difficult.
Encourage your voting-age kids, nieces, nephews, neighbors, anyone you speak with, to get their absentee ballot. We are lucky here in Oregon: all elections are by mail. I don’t have to worry about socially-distanced lines at my polling place, or shortage of poll workers, or transportation, or polling places closing. I STRONGLY urge you to do the same: vote by mail. It works fine. But don’t wait! If you don’t already have vote-by-mail, order your ballot NOW!
Regardless of your party affiliation, I hope you will exercise your civic right, your duty, and make your voice heard. Democracy only works when we ALL speak up.
