In February of 2024 we planned a big loop around the country on Amtrak. There were several aging friends and relatives we wanted to see, most of whom we had not seen since before the pandemic, and we thought a train adventure would be fun. I originally published these on my blog, but have decided to move all the travel journals onto their own pages.
Starting in Portland, Oregon, we went south to Los Angeles, east to San Antonio, continued east to New Orleans, then northeast to Roanoke, Virginia, then through DC to Chicago, then headed home to Portland, stopping in each of those locations for a few, or more than a few, days. The whole journey took four weeks. Fun, yea, there were some fun times. Read on.
